Terrorism has no religion: Shah Rukh

“There is no religion of terrorism,” said Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan here Sunday evening at a public event a year after the Mumbai terror attacks.

“Indian civilisation does not distinguish in terms of religion. We are an impossible achievement in the world and I’m very proud to be an Indian,” he added, speaking at public event held at the sprawling lawns of the India Gate to show the nation’s solidarity against terrorism.
“No one can have two viewpoints about terrorism. There is no religion of terrorism. I am often asked my viewpoint on this, maybe because I am a Muslim and I am very proud to be a Muslim,” said Shah Rukh.
“But I have read the Quran, listened to the Gita, acted in Ram Leela… and learnt Christianity besides being a Muslim… My friends and I have worked on a film on Buddha (’Asoka’) and my wife is a Punjabi,” the super star stressed.
Shah Rukh joined a number of celebrities, eminent personalities from the worlds of arts and literature, and political leaders and school children to mark “A Nation In Solidarity Against Terror” event organised under the aegis of the ministry of home affairs (MHA).
Also present at the event were Home Minister P. Chidambaram, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, lyricist Javed Akhtar, journalist Shekhar Gupta, shooter Abhinav Bindra and tennis player Sania Mirza to name a few.
Singers Shreya Ghosal, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Shankar Mahadevan and violinist Dr. L. Subramaniam also performed at the event.
With a message “Terror has no religion. Our solidarity, courage and resoluteness are the answer to the threat of terror”, it was hosted by actress-activist Nandita Das and directed by one-film old Feroz Abbas Khan.
Produced and managed by Wizcraft International Entertainment, the event was held a year after the final day when the siege in Mumbai last year ended (Nov 29, 2008).
It was supported by organisations including ONGC, Airtel, SAIL, State Bank of India, Apollo Tyres, Mahindra, Amity University, Reliance Industries, Reliance ADAG, GAIL, Aircel and Jet Airways.

'Paa' to release in 20 countries with 700 prints

Amitabh Bachchan’s much-awaited “Paa”, in which Big B plays a 13-year-old boy suffering from progeria that accelerates the ageing process, will release Friday in 20 countries with 700 prints, including digital.

“Paa” is an AB Corp Ltd. presentation in association with Reliance BIG Pictures, which will release it simultaneously in India as well as other countries like Britain, Canada, US, UAE, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand.
Directed by R. Balakrishnan, the film will see Abhishek and Vidya Balan as Amitabh’s parents. Ahead of its release, it is having extensive marketing and promotion campaigns.
Idea Cellular had tied up with “Paa” for “Talk to Auro” activity - it will allow callers to leave messages for Auro and in return receive calls from Auro on a pre-determined date. Apart from this, ring back tones in Auro’s voice and other value added services too will be available on Idea network.
Also, Bajaj Allianz has tied up for an integrated TV ad on Child Plans that has been interspersed with the film’s promos and is currently on air.
BIG FM is on board as the film’s radio partner.

Is 'Endhiran' preponed to March?

The entire town is curiously looking out for Rajnikanth’s magnum opus “Endhiran –The Robot’. The film is under production for past 15 months and probably will take 4 more months to complete. Meanwhile we hear it from closer sources of unit that producers are planning to release the film by March instead of April 2010.
Recently, action oriented sequences between Rajnikanth and cops were filmed at the busiest roads of Kathipara Junction in Chennai. Peter Hein has choreographed the stunts in an extraordinary style that involves cars clashing over the air and bombs blasting continuously.
As of now, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has completed shooting for her talkie portions and has got couple of songs to be completed.

Amir khan To Sign No Films For One Year

It looks like it will be another year at least after 3 Idiots and his own home productions Dhobi Ghat and Delhi Belly before Aamir Khan will sign another new film.

Since the release of Ghajini in December 2008 Aamir has not signed on the dotted line for any project. In fact Aamir had decided to take one full year off after Ghajini to rejuvenate himself. After the tough physical and emotional preparation for Ghajini, Aamir just wanted to relax and spend time with his wife and children.

That’s precisely what he has done for the last one year. But now Aamir would be taking one more year off. This next one-year would be devoted to putting his three home productions in order.

Says a source, “Aamir had earlier decided to take one year off. But now he has decided to extend his sabbatical by one more year. Filmmakers who have approached him with projects have been told that Aamir intends to take approximately one more year to supervise the post-production and final look of the three films that he has produced in 2009, namely Abhinay Deo’s Delhi Belly, Anushka Rizvi’s The Falling and Aamir’s wife Kiran Rao’s Dhobi Ghat.”

Aamir feels all three projects need serious fine-tuning and have been delayed because he has been busy finishing and promoting 3 Idiots.

Says the source, “The only way Aamir feels his three productions can be completed and released in 2010 is if he sets aside all his own acting assignments to look into them. So he isn’t signing any films in 2010 either.”

Says the source, “It requires guts to say no to the best roles going in Bollywood and to a reported fee of approximately Rs. 30 crores per film. But Aamir suffers no security pangs about not signing films. He told a friend he would work at his own pace, no matter what the temptation or provocation to take on extra work.”

Prabhu Deva to remake Ghilli with Abhishek

It is almost confirmed that Prabhu Deva will be doing his next Hindi film with AB Corp, the company of the Bachchans.

The buzz is that it will be a remake of Vijay's Ghilli, which itself was a remake of Mahesh Babu's Okkadu from Telugu.

Prabhu Deva confirmed that he had met Abhishek Bachchan a few days back and narrated the story, which junior Bachchan loved.

He told sify.com: “I did meet Abhishek in Mumbai and narrated the story which he liked. My next film in Hindi will be with him some time in mid 2010, after I complete my Tamil film with Jayam Ravi.”

Right now, Prabhu Deva is in US looking for a heroine for the Tamil film

. He will be starting his next untitled film in Paris, with most likely a new face as the heroine.

I am not superstitious, says Aamir Khan

Taare Zameen Par', 'Ghajini' and now '3 Idiots', Aamir Khan clearly considers Christmas week the best time to release his films, but the superstar says it is a co-incidence and not superstition that has resulted in the trend.

Despite his claim, Khan does agree that the date has worked wonders for him and now hopes to be a third time lucky.

The actor's directorial debut 'Taare Zameen Par' which was released on Christmas in 2007 went onto win a National Award while last year's December release 'Ghajini' broke all box office records.

"I hope to be third time lucky with '3 Idiots' but the release date is more of a coincidence than a planned move. I am not superstitious. Ghajini was supposed to be an October release, but it had to be postponed to December because I was injured," Aamir told PTI.

The 44-year-old actor plays Rancho, a happy-go-lucky engineering student in the film, directed by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, which has the tagline 'Don't be Stupid, be an Idiot'.The 44-year-old Khan said that he was initially sceptical about playing a character less than half his actual age, but took up the role as he realised that just like Rancho, he was an idiot in real life.

"The film defines idiot as someone who dares to do the unusual and chases excellence not success. Rajkumar Hirani told me that I am an idiot like my character Rancho in the movie and I agree with him. I have made the same decisions in my life. I realised I am the idiot of Bollywood," said Khan.

Shah Rukh is a funny man: Amitabh Bachchan

Bollywood

megastar Amitabh Bachchan says Shah Rukh Khan left him in a jovial mood after the latter called him to confirm his presence at the premiere of upcoming film

“Paa”.

“Shah Rukh has remained with me in the late afternoon. He is a very funny man and shakes me into joviality when I inform him about the premiere and his absolute presence there. He tells me, ‘He is already there, black suited and with anticipation of seeing ‘Paa’,” Amitabh posted on bigb.bigadda.com.

“Aamir too communicates today and confirms his presence,” he added.

The cast and crew of “Paa” - including Amitabh, Abhishek and director R. Balakrishnan have major plans for the film’s premiere Dec 3 in Mumbai.

Amitabh plays a 12-year-old progeria patient in “Paa” and he had to stick on several pieces of specially crafted clay to get the right look for the movie. The disease causes premature ageing among children.

International make-up artist Stephan Dupuis designed Big B’s look and the megastar had to sit for five-six hours for the make-up.

The 67-year-old says he is now anxious about how the audience and critics will react to the film.

“Slowly but surely the jig saw puzzle will begin to unfold. The test of all our hours and hours of effort at the film shall now be up for scrutiny. And within two hours and 14 minutes the verdict shall be passed. Once passed, shall remain passed. Such is the destiny of those that participate in this wondrous game of filmmaking,” he said.

The film is releasing Dec 4.

Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed 2 a Record-Breaker

Ubisoft's action-stealth game Assassin's Creed 2 already has its predecessor on the run for first-week sales, to the tune of 1.6 million units worldwide. That's 32 percent more than Ubisoft's original medieval sneaker, which, working backwards from that figure, sold about 1.1 million units during its inaugural sales week in November 2007.

The news ought to reassure timorous investors who this morning bet the results would come in lower and temporarily dropped Ubisoft's share price by up as much as 7 points.

Sure, it's no Modern Warfare 2 in terms of unit sales, but then what is? Even Grand Theft Auto IV's eating humble pie after Activision's internal sales estimates put MW2's total one-day take at $310 million in the US and UK alone. Wait until we get the official domestic and worldwide figures.

Ubisoft told Reuters in September that it was banking on the release of Assassin's Creed 2 to meet or exceed its 2009-2010 financial goals. The company's sales target for Assassin's Creed 2 is 8 million units. If they hit that or better, they'll be at least 15 points over Assassin's Creed's 6.8 million grab.

World’s First Multi-Touch Mouse Revealed by Apple

The first mouse in the world which uses Apple’s revolutionary Multi-Touch™ technology, the wireless Magic Mouse, was released by apple. Multi-Touch technology which was introduced by Apple on iPhone®, iPod touch® and Mac® notebook trackpads, permits customers to navigate using intuitive finger gestures. There are no mechanical buttons, scroll wheels or scroll balls because the top of the Magic Mouse is all a Multi-Touch surface. The price for the Magic Mouse will be $69 and it will come standard with the new iMac®.

Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, Philip Schiller, declared: “Apple is the Multi-Touch leader, pioneering the use of this innovative technology in iPhone, iPod touch and Mac notebook trackpads.” He continued: “Apple's Multi-Touch technology allows us to offer an easy to use mouse in a simple and elegant design.”

Magic Mouse is built with a touch-sensitive enclosure which allows it to be used as a single or as a multi-button mouse with advanced gesture support. If users apply intuitive gestures they can easily scroll through huge documents, pan across big size images or swipe to move forward or backward through a collection of web pages or photos. Magic Mouse is for both left and right handed users and the multi-button or gesture commands can be easily configured by accessing System Preferences.

Magic Mouse has a laser tracking engine which provides a smooth, consistent experience on many surfaces, unlike a traditional optical tracking system which requires some adequate surfaces. Bluetooth wireless technology is incorporated into the Magic Mouse in order to offer a clean, cable-free desk top and a secure connection which works from up to 10 meters away. Magic Mouse was built with extended battery performance and for that reason includes an advanced power management system that works with Mac OS® X in order to automatically switch to low power modes during periods of inactivity. Two included AA batteries power the wireless Magic Mouse.
